Quick and easy baked chickpea flour falafel recipe

My super quick and easy baked chickpea flour falafel recipe.

Falafel is such an incredible food and I eat a lot of it. I find it a highly nutritious food (when prepared well and not fried in unhealthy oil of course). This quick and easy baked falafel recipe is made with chickpea flour and it is ready in 15 minutes!

I definitely prefer using fresh chickpeas soaked overnight, but this recipe is perfect for a quick and easy meal. All ingredients can be mixed a bowl together, so a food processor or blender is not needed. I also get my chickpeas flour from the organic vegan shop here on the island, and she does it on the spot for me by using organic raw uncooked chickpeas. So I do think the quality of the flour can also make a difference and if you can get it organic, or even make it yourself if you have the machine, then this is ideal.

Ingredients: (this recipe made 10 falafels)
150g chickpea flour
2 tbs of cumin powder
1 tsp cloves powder
1 tbsp of ginger powder
1/2 tbsp of Himalayan salt
1/2 tbsp of black pepper
2 garlic cloves (grated)
fresh coriander (very finely cut)
50/60 ml of hot water
extra virgin olive oil (or whatever cooking oil you use)

Homemade falafel

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl add the chickpea flour, the spices and fresh coriander and mix them well.
  2. Add the hot water and mix everything together until it becomes like a dough/paste like.
  3. Make the falafel balls and press them with the bottom of a round glass then line them on a baking paper in an oven tray.
  4. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 150 C.
  5. Make sure you check them halfway in case you need to turn them on the other side or not to burn.
